People think they’re special having a date on this day, but what difference does today make? A day with a title, why not leave it the fourteenth of February; what makes it more important than the sixteenth or the twenty seventh? It’s a wasted day where stores make money and movies and florists and restaurants. A day to remind us love still exists is needed, but not a day for the commercialized celebration of couples. No one wants to see people cuddling and doing “cute” crap in front of everyone. If someone means something to you, save it for each other. Honestly, which would you rather do? Spend a day with your boytoy sucking his face off when there’s HUNDREDS of other people doing the same thing? That’s so romantic.. Or spend it with friends, catching up, watching stupid movies, and well just doing the norm, but with an added sugar rush. A little note: Shouldn’t a guy or girl have enough sense to surprise their “love” or for most people “person I’ve gone out with for about 3 months and like a lot, but I’ll call it love because I know they just have to be the one”. Shouldn’t they care about that person enough to buy them something on a normal day Just Because, not Because I Have To. People don’t realize that love will eventually, in the worst case, break your heart? That’s pleasant.. but Friends.. well maybe not. People change. But friends stay true a lot more than any guy.
So maybe the alone are bitter? I don’t see much of a difference between that year and this year. The holiday involves vomit-worthy antics by the golden couples; the bigger gift, the better gift. Of course, because that’s the whole idea society continues to hang over our heads. The reason I hate this holiday is because I think people need to get their priorities straight and realize whats more important. I’m tired of things telling us what we should feel or how we should express it, money means nothing to the person you love or from the person you love. That’s not how it works…
